I'm new to Beaconsfield

Weddings

A Church wedding adds a spiritual dimension to a marriage by providing an expression of worship, reflecting joy, celebration, community and love. For such a special day, St. Marys offers a beautiful and friendly atmosphere, worshipful ethos, along with an excellent choir and a fine peal of 8 bells. This provides a setting for a memorable wedding service. In addition, we provide marriage preparation courses which are run by our 3 Anglican churches in Beaconsfield including St Marys, St Michaels and St Thomas.  For more information, please use the email link below or telephone the parish office on 01494 676690.

We hope this page will answer some of your questions:

I live in Beaconsfield.  Can I be married in your church?

Probably!  Provided you live in the parish, you are entitled to be married in any of the three parish churches in Beaconsfield – St Mary’s, St Michael’s, Warwick Road or St Thomas’s, Mayflower Way.  Each of the three churches is very different in feel – why not visit each one before making a decision?

But I have never been baptised?  Can I still be married in your church?

Yes.  You do not need to be baptised, or Christian, to be married in your Church of England parish church.

But I have been married before?  Can I still be married in your church?

That depends!  You will need to speak to the Rector and discuss some of the reasons for the break-up of your first marriage and why you want to be married in church.  However, each year a number of the weddings that we conduct are for people who have been previously married.

I grew up in Beaconsfield but moved away and now live elsewhere.  Can I still be married in your church?

There are a number of qualifying connections which now enable you to be married here.  If you lived in the parish for any period of at least six months – or if your parents did during your lifetime – you can still be married here.  There are a number of other qualifying connections – best to talk to the Rector about it.

How much will it all cost?

In 2011, a wedding with bellringers, and organist in the summer months costs £663.50.  If you want the choir, or need the heating, this will be an additional cost.  Probably less than the cost of the dress and much less than the reception venue!  We will work hard to make it special and the most memorable day of your life!

What about hymns and Bible readings – how do I find out what to have?

Don’t worry – we will help you with all that.  If you decide to get married here, we will give you suggested readings, hymn choices and guide you through the whole process.
