Junior Church
We are Junior Church! We have two fun-filled and age appropriate groups; the first consisting of those children, ages 3 to 8, and the second, Year 4 children and above. Junior Church meets every Sunday at 10:00am (except the first Sunday) during term times in the Fitzwilliams Centre directly behind the church.
In the younger group we start our morning with a brief and fun worship that includes lively songs, a Bible story and prayer. We have different activities each week that are linked to the lesson. Additionally, you will find an abundance of activities including crafts, cooking, puzzles and quizzes, drama, games and finally a light snack.
Our activities often take place in the garden when the weather is good. We love to make decorations for the church including those for special festivals such as Easter, Harvest and Christmas.
With the older children, we still play games, read Bible stories, do quizzes, craft, drama, etc.,. But, we also have our acclaimed “Breakfast at the Fitz” together, which is provided by the Junior Church leaders. During this time, we talk about things going on in our lives and consider how we can become better Christians.
Both Junior Church groups meet in the Fitzwilliams Centre with the younger group in the main hall on the ground floor, and the older group upstairs on the first floor. Junior Church comes to a close towards the end of Holy Communion in the main service, at which time all the children are brought in the church to join their families for the final hymn.
Sometimes we do things to benefit others, such as taking sandwiches on Homelessness Sunday to the homeless people in London.
Additionally, we have also raised money for Christian Aid and other charities.
If you would like to join us, all you need to do is just turn up…as we are always delighted to have new members in our group. If you would like more information about Junior Church, email us using the link below or ring the Parish Office at 01494 676690.
