  1. Confirmation of Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of 11th June were adopted and signed as a true record.

  1. Treasurer’s Report: there should be some accounts ready for the September meeting.

  1. Faith Works Reports:  There were no reports from Church and Worship, Social Responsibility, Pastoral or Nurture groups.  The Business group have a meeting on Monday, 13th July to discuss the north porch.

  1. Reports: There were no PCC or Deanery Synod reports.  The notes of the Oxford Diocesan synod meeting held on 20th June were duly noted.

  1. Report on Progress of preparation of the Parish Profile: Stephen Dillon had circulated a first draft of the profile to DCC members and those involved with the patronage board.  It has also been sent to Andrew Gere (Diocesan Advisor) who will report back with his comments.  There is still work to do on this profile but Stephen hopes it will be ready by the end of July.  An advert will then be drafted for September.  The profile will go on the St Mary’s website once it is complete.  The Diocese expects the profile to be updated every two years.  The committee thanked Stephen Dillon for all lhis work on the profile.

Robert Tobin leaves on 19th July.  As there cannot be a new curate until the new Rector is appointed, it is almost certain there will be a year without a curate.

  1. Discussion on Broadening the Church profile in the Community:

+      Develop the link with Beaconsfield Rugby Club.  A service for the beginning of the season was suggested.                                    J.G.

+      PR .  St Mary’s needs an assigned Press Officer to act as a link with the local newspapers etc to promote events.  This should be linked with the website. It could be someone who wants to work from home and there may be a cost involved.

+      Develop closer links with St Mary’s School in order to catch children/parents and younger adults and attract them to the congregation.

+      Refresh the church welcome pack to new residents in Beaconsfield

+      Visit new people to the area

+      Find out how St James, Gerrards Cross, community promote activities.

+      BOTRA

  1. Any Other Business

(a)     It was agreed to display a copy of the approved DCC minutes on the board at the back of church by the Sunday after the meeting and for a note to this effect to be put in the pew sheet for that week.  Advice received from the Area Dean states that only the Chairman and Secretary are allowed to send anything out from the meeting.  It was also agreed to ask Steve Snaith to put the approved DCC minutes on the website.

(b)    Summer Fayre:  there is a long list of criteria which have to be adhered to for insurance for tours of the tower.

(c)     Next year will mark 800 years since the first incumbent at St Mary’s in 1210 (list of incumbents on north wall of church).  It is hoped to mark this anniversary  in some way.
