St Mary & All Saints Church Beaconsfield

The Nave

The pulpit was given in memory of John and Catherine Charsley in 1869. The three panels were carved by their daughter Matilda. The brass eagle lectern was given in; memory of Caledon Du Pre (d,1886). The carved screen under the organ 1oft is part 13th century, part 16th century and closely resembles the screen on the North side of the Lady Chapel. The organ 1oft is mainly 20th century being built by Messrs Rothwell of Willesden in 1869, restored and improved in 1953 ,and rebuilt in 1967 by Cousans of Lincoln. All the kneelers have been embroidered by parishioners. The five designs are based on motifs to be found in the windows, stonework and wooden carvings of the church. The two staves surmounted by a mitre and a crown are carried by the Churchwardens on ceremonial occasions symbolising the Church and the State.
