24 - 27 August 2018
Bank Holiday Weekend
The Paths of Peace Flower Festival will mark the centenary of the end of First World War, and will focus on peace and reconciliation but explore concepts such as sacrifice, healing, unity and remembrance.
Our display titles include: Dulce et Decorum est; At the Going Down of the Sun; For the Healing of the Nations; War Horse; I Vow to thee my Country. There will be tributes to all armed forces. As you take time to view the displays you will be invited to journey along paths of sacrifice, through forgiveness to peace.
One aspect of the festival will look at the personal war memorials within the church.
On the Saturday evening we are delighted to host the Shared Intent Theatre performing "What Greater Glory" a collection of readings and passages in commemoration of the war.
After our Parish Communion service on Sunday morning at 11.30 there will be a pigeon release – one pigeon for each Beaconsfield person lost in WWI.
On Sunday evening there will be a dedicated Compline service at 6.30pm.
Throughout the day on Monday, the flower festival will run alongside the Beaconsfield Country Fayre. We shall also be joined on Monday by the Great War Buckinghamshire Project and their display. The day will end with a sale of displays.
All proceeds from the event will go to the armed forces charity: SSAFA
