Housegroups
Have you ever thought of joining a House Group? Study and discussion are high on the agenda but house groups are places where you will be welcome and will find support and friendship; a place where anything relating to our faith can be raised. There are leaflets at the back of church with details of the current house groups - do take one and, if you would like to know more, contact the Revd. Dr. Robert Tobin or Elizabeth Lowden, house group co-ordinator (674382).
Church Flowers
Angela Shepherd (677754) is keen to find new people for next year's altar flower rota, involving about one weekend every six weeks at your convenience. No experience is needed. People work in pairs, with an experienced person taking the lead, and all expenses are reimbursed. If you have admired the displays and would be willing to try, would enjoy getting involved, meeting new people and having fun, Angela would like to hear from you. Arranging flowers in the peace and sanctuary of our beautiful church can be extremely therapeutic

Beaconsfield Talking Newspaper for the Blind is hoping to recruit two new volunteers, a commitment of only one Thursday morning per month, in the role of Editor. The work involves going through the Beaconsfield Advertiser and deciding which articles are to be included, cutting out and pasting the articles onto cards ready for Thursday afternoon's recording which starts at 2.00 p.m. It is necessary that the editing is done first thing on a Thursday morning - the job takes about three hours. For further details please contact Rosemary Segrove (677178) or Wendy Reilly (673094)
GRAPHIC DESIGN HELP WANTED
We would like to create a new "identity" for St Mary's, with the aim of making visitors feel more welcome, newcomers better informed and the congregation more in touch with what's going on in our church.
The first stage is to get some professional help with graphic design. We are looking for someone who can design a 'look and feel' for us, including producing style guides, templates and a 'logo'. There is a small group of marketing professionals that are working on this project and not charging for their time. We are hoping to find an experienced, professional designer who is willing to help out in a similar vein.
If you know any design professionals who have experience of identity toolkits and style guides and may be able to offer their services at a reduced fee, please do put us in touch with them.
There would be a very tight brief, and we can promise a respectful and constructive client relationship! In the first instance, please could you contact the Parish Office and let Pam Crawford know of anyone who might be able to help. Parish Office: 01494 676690
Beaconsfield Advisory Centre: We urgently need more drivers to take the elderly and disabled to medical appointments. This is not a huge commitment and could involved just an hour of your time when YOU are available. We also need another Transport organiser. For more information please contact Sylvia Jones on 01753 889384. Many thanks.
The Mother and Toddler Group meets during term times in the Fitzwilliams Centre from 1.30 - 3.00 p.m. This has proved to be a very popular event and we are now asking for more helpers to go on a rota not a weekly commitment. Please contact Pat Mead (01628 520289).
Advent and Christmas Carol Services If you have always wanted to sing in the choir but don't have time to sing on a regular basis, why not join us just for a special service? We are now rehearsing for our Advent and Christmas Carol Services. We meet on Thursdays in the Fitzwilliams Centre at 7.30 p.m. We'd love to see you there! Debbie Ivens (674889)
RECTOR'S NOTICES
OBERAMMERGAU
Places for the 2010 Passion Play have been selling at lightening speed. I have managed to secure 32 places through Page and Moy for departure on June 12th 2010 by air to Munich.
The tour includes two days in Oberammergau and 5 days in Kitzbuhel. Page and Moy are a little more expensive than some other Tour operators but the seats for the play are better and the accommodation is in the highest category. The cost is £1629. I have to confirm this booking by the 24th September with deposits! You therefore have to think and act quickly. If you are definitely interested, there is a list at the back of the church but also booking forms' plus some coloured sheets on this particular Tour.
LOOKING AHEAD TO MAY 2009:
Our St. Mary's Away·Weekend has been booked at BruneI Manor, Torquay from Friday to Sunday afternoon, May 22nd - 24th 2009. While it seems a long way ahead, we shall be taking names this September. We have been there before in 2005 and we all had a really excellent and fun time. We are fortunate to have booked as our leader, Olive Drane. She came to Beaconsfield a couple of years ago and made a great impression with her clowning. Would you please keep the date free next year? It is both a Bank Holiday weekend and half-term but we hope that will encourage both families and husbands to come.
